Dutch folk metal band HEIDEVOLK released their new full-length album entitled "Batavi", on March 2nd via Napalm Records.
With "Batavi", HEIDEVOLK takes you back 2,000 years to a time where numerous Germanic tribes and one massive Roman empire were struggling for dominance in north-western Europe, along the shores of the river Rhine. Caught in the middle of this where the Batavians, protagonists and name-givers of the new album.
"Batavi" is a concept album that deals with the early history of the Batavian tribe, from its origination to a daring revolt against one of the greatest empires the world has ever seen. Set against a background of wars, alliances, intrigues and betrayal in a tumultuous era, "Batavi" tells the story of a people that find themselves in various frontlines and struggle for survival.
Though still unmistakably in line with their musical tradition, on "Batavi" you will hear a faster and more determined HEIDEVOLK. Swiss folk metallers ELUVEITIE released their new full-length album entitled "Helvetios", on February 10, 2012 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD was recorded at New Sound Studio in Pfäffikon, a municipality in the canton of Zurich in Switzerland, with producer Tommy Vetterli (a.k.a. Tommy T. Baron; CORONER/ex-KREATOR guitarist). According to the band, Vetterli "record[ed] drums, guitars and vocals and also produc[ed] and mix[ed] the record. Most folk instruments and also vocals [were] recorded by Anna Murphy and Marco Jencarelli at the Soundfarm studios in Lucerne."
Commented ELUVEITIE vocalist Christian "Chrigel" Glanzmann: "The song 'A Rose For Epona' appears about in the middle of the storyline — so, it tells about the time when the gaulish war broke out already. The Helvetians decided to leave their homeland and migrate to the west coast of Gallia, to start a new life there. In the time the song tells about, many Helvetians had to face pretty much shattered hopes. And so does the protagonist, from whose viewpoint the song is written: A young gaulish woman. She was part of the helvetic migration, but after the battle of Bibracte, all hopes that she and her people would ever reach their new home were torn to pieces. Furthermore you can imagine: She probably had lost her husband on the battlefields of Bibracte and she had to face fact that she can be glad if their common newborn child would not be killed and she herself would be sold into roman slavery. To sum it up: Her situation was desperate. In this situation 'our' young gaulish woman despairs, can't accept her fate and turns to her goddess Epona... and accuses her for having forsaken her people. This is what the song expresses. On a historical note: 'Epona' was a gaulish goddess which was, among other things, in charge of taking care of horsemen and the cavallery. All over Gallia there were Epona temples where people traditionally offered up freshly cut roses or rose petals to their goddess."

In August 2011, RHAPSODY OF FIRE guitarist Luca Turilli and keyboardist Alex Staropoli announced their decision to go their separate ways.
Due to legal reasons, Staropoli will continue under the RHAPSODY OF FIRE name. Turilli, on the other hand, will make his future efforts available under the RHAPSODY moniker (RHAPSODY OF FIRE's original name), in which he will be joined by guitarist Dominique Leurquin, bassist Patrice Guers, and drummer Alex Holzwarth. A singer for the group has has yet to be announced.
LUCA TURILLI'S RHAPSODY will release a new album entitled "Ascending To Infinity" on June 22nd via Nuclear Blast.
Commented the band: "We all know that many of you were waiting for the news about our new singer and it is true that his name was supposed to be revealed right today. But as the mix of the album already started and the result of his artistic performance on 'Ascending To Infinity' is simply brilliant, then we decided to not present our singer by simply revealing his name. Instead, with the next news of Tuesday, March 27, we'll present him in the best way possible, the one we know you surely prefer. ANIMETAL USA released their sophomore album entitled "Animetal USA W", on June 6th via Sony Music Japan International. Inc. The album features 11 tracks including their collaboration with Hironobu Kageyama of JAM Project that is being used in the new Naruto spin-off program "Rock Lee & His Ninja Pals". This same song was the first single from the album.

MANOWAR released their new full-length album entitled "The Lord Of Steel", on June 16th. "The Lord Of Steel" is blazing with pure power, untamed energy, and a sound as raw and wild as a force of nature. Track titles like "Annihilation" and "Hail, Kill And Die!" set the tone for a record that is packed with surprises. In contrast to the 2007 release Gods Of War, this new album is not a concept album, yet each song tells a different story, retaining the Manowar vision of righteousness, honor and everything Manowar fans have come to know and love.
Manowar fans should expect to have “their heads completely blown off” said Manowar bassist Joey DeMaio in a recent interview, and explained that “…this album is all about brutality and raw power!”
The album was mixed and mastered at the legendary Wisseloord Studios by long-time collaborators mixing engineer Ronald Prent and two-time Grammy award-winning mastering engineer Darcy Proper.
