XANDRIA released their sixth full-length album entitled "Sacrificium", on May 2nd, 2014 via Napalm Records. 

According to the band, the follow-up to 2012's "Neverworld's End" will "continue the musical journey and direction" of the last CD but "will bring in even more of everything people liked" about "Neverworld's End".

XANDRIA last fall parted ways with their singer of three years, Manuela Kraller. Her replacement is the "astonishing 28-year-old Dutch talent" Dianne Van Giersbergen, who also fronts the progressive metal outfit EX LIBRIS.

Said Manuela in a statement: "After three years with the boys in XANDRIA, I decided to follow a different path and go my own musical way."

The sympathethic Bavarian singer left with regret but also full of gratitude, thanking band and fans for the time they had together and being grateful for the "wonderful moments in mutual tours and shows." Manuela also wished Dianne and band "all the very best for the future!"

 THE AGONIST released a two-song digital single entitled "Disconnect Me", on April 29th, 2014 via Century Media. These tracks are the first to feature new singer Vicky Psarakis.

THE AGONIST will start recording its new album later this month. The CD will once again be produced by Chris Donaldson (CRYPTOPSY) in the band's hometown of Montreal and will be made available in the fall.

Commented THE AGONIST guitarist Danny Marino: "Creating this album has been an amazing experience so far.

"Vicky has breathed new life into the songwriting process and we are so excited to share these first two tracks with the world! 

"The songs on this album represent a culmination of the past 10 years, as well as a new beginning for THE AGONIST. We're also thrilled to be back in the studio with our old friend and longtime engineer Chris Donaldson.

GLORYFUL released their second full-length album entitled "Ocean Blade", on April 25th, 2014 via Massacre Records. The CD was mixed by Dan Swanö (EDGE OF SANITY, BLOODBATH) and the mastering duties were done by Charles Greywolf (POWERWOLF, FLOWING TEARS). 

The artwork was created by Belgian artist Kris Verwimp, who has previously worked with such bands as ABSU, DARK FORTRESS and MELECHESH.

SAVN released its self-titled debut album on April 25th, 2014 in Europe, April 28th, 2014 in the United Kingdom and May 13th, 2014 via CDR Records. The CD was recorded at Mastersound Studio in Germany with producer Alexander Krull and features guest appearances by Liv Kristine and Michelle Darkness (END OF GREEN). The cover artwork was created by designer Jan Yrlund (Darkgrove).

Do you remember the Norwegian goth metal legends THE SINS OF THY BELOVED?
They have been dormant for quite a while and after years of a rumored reunion, Stig Johansen and Anders Thue have instead risen from the ashes with a new band, SAVN, and a new vision. The seeds for SAVN (translated: Deprivation) officially took root in 2013 when multi-instrumentalist Stig contacted MIDNATTSOL vocalist and longtime friend Carmen Elise Espenæs about singing one song for the planned album. She agreed, and he and Anders (keyboards) were so pleased with the final result they invited Carmen to sing on the entire record.

And, how did this come together?

"In the beginning they just wanted me here and there in parts of the songs," Carmen reveals, "but I became more and more involved as we worked. There were some parts that I asked if we could change them because I had a chorus or melody line that needed to be in there. They decided that it would be best to say that I'm part of the band. I loved the music when I first heard it, and working with them in the studio was a great experience."

SAVN is uncharted territory for the trio in that the music is unlike anything created by them before.

"It's fantastic," says Carmen of exploring new musical territory with SAVN. "I feel it brings me back to who I am. If I go for a really long time not making music I lose something of myself. Getting into doing SAVN really makes me feel alive. And I have absolutely no clue why, but all the ideas for the song melodies came so fast. I have to say I've never been so satisfied when making a new album, and I think the vocal melodies on this one are the best I've ever done. They're catchier, I think, probably because the song structures are simpler so that people will want to song along and listen to the songs over and over."

SAVN composed the music and Carmen all the lyrics. She is particularly fond of the song "I Am Free", which features a guest appearance by her sister, Liv Kristine (LEAVES' EYES, THEATRE OF TRAGEDY). It marks the first time the siblings have recorded one of Carmen's songs together. And in fact, perhaps Liv Kristine describes SAVN best from the point of view of an observer and participant of the album recordings: "If you like the old THEATRE OF TRAGEDY, you'll enjoy SAVN. I love the album!"
